Hograils Operating Event 2017
Hograils, our annual operating weekend, will take place on April 7-9, 2017. Our schedule calls for operating sessions on Friday evening, all day Saturday, and on Sunday morning. There will also be a dinner Saturday night, and a "brats" lunch on Sunday.
This year we'll be welcoming three new layouts to the mix:
First, Bob Moore's layout will not be available this year.
Second, sadly, this will be the last run for two layouts, Norm Bruce's Gulf Colorado & Santa Fe Railway Co, and Lou Adler's Sierra Central. Norm will be moving to the Seattle area to be closer to his grand kids and Lou will be moving to Austin, Texas, to also be closer to his grand kids. They will be greatly missed and hard to replace in our group.
Next, Lee Hehl rebuilt his Great Northern layout, but in a smaller basement than before. It is now an intense switching layout for a crew of 4-5.
Finally, Pete Graham brings a brand-new freelance layout on line, with plenty of switching and running.
They will be joining the existing layouts of Lou Adler, Norm Bruce, Doug Farner, John "Cuz" Farrell, Dick Hovey and Steve Marquess. Alan Epley will not be operating this year, opting for a trip to Australia instead of Hograils.
We'll also have a Saturday night open house at Art Danz' Milwaukee Road layout, which won't quite be ready for operations this year. BUT WAIT 'TIL NEXT YEAR!!
We look forward to seeing you in Arkansas before too long!
