Columbia Cascade
Railway -Vancouver |
|
Vancouver is the largest city in the
Columbia Cascade country. It also has the largest yard which
services the
BN. Currently, BN operates two switchers in this yard as a
large volume of cars pass thru here going to other railroads. The industrial district has several major players
serviced by the yard crews. Vancouver Grain Co-op, Pacific
Textiles, Associated Groceries, and Maytag Appliances are several of the
heavy hitters here. Also specials runs originate here to the ferry yard
and locals to other BN towns. |
 |
Crossing the Vancouver River that
flows into the Pacific thru Port Angeles harbor, is a well maintained
Bascule Life Bridge. Due to the heavy freight traffic, sometime
barges and tugs will stack up until a lull hits and the bridge can be
raised. |
|
The ferry yard receives the local
ferry from the islands daily. Ferry is out at this time.
One of the Vancouver crews switches the ferry yard. |

Continental Can Corporation, Vancouver Grain Co-op, Associated Grocers,
and others. |

Here is the east end of the yard and
the caboose tracks. The industries to the left are serviced by the
Port Angeles Terminal Railway. The lead to the front edge is for
switching. |
