Columbia Cascade
Railway -Port Angeles |
|
Port Angeles is serviced exclusively
by the Port Angeles Terminal Railway, owned by the city of Port
Angeles. They run a pair of old but
well maintained SW7's that are still dressed in the old Northern Pacific
Black and yellow. This is heavy traffic area, especially
thru the summer and into the fall due to the heavy export of grain.
There are several other industries here also that create a lot of work
for the two switcher crews. They interchange with the BN, Milwaukee,
CP, & UP. |
|
The Port Angeles Terminal Railway
commonly called the PATR has a small yard that is used for the
interchange. They also use a smaller yard in East Angeles and on
heavy days, just about anywhere they can stash a car or two till they
can clear the yard. The city knows the yard is not large enough,
but unfortunately, there is not real estate available to expand. |
 |
 |
Port Angeles is home of one of the
largest grain exporters in the pacific northwest, Continental Grain
Co-op. It is definitely one of the Port Angeles Terminal Railways
biggest clients. |

Looking back from down at the dock
edge across the inter modal yard back at Continental Grain. The
inter modal yard is serviced by the PATR. |
 |
 |
The East Side of Port Angeles has
multiple industries and a small yard servicing the dock area including SeaLand, Fruit
Growers Export, Kaufmann Manufacturing, Bergen Feeds, and others.
|
|
Bergen Feeds is a major industry in
the Port Angeles area. |
 |
 |
The Pacific Queen from Singapore and
the Northwestern Star from Vancouver, BC, have both just docked at Port Angeles harbor
to load grain for shipping to the Orient & intermodal
containers both unloading imports and re-loading exports.
These three ships are the work of master model builder Bill Gregory
of Tulsa. |
|
This is the start of a major shipper
"Fruit Growers Export" to the back. It is done as a flat on the isle as
will many structures on the layout. To the front is the new two
track "SeaLand" Building. |

The Annabelle based in Port Angeles is
part of the fleet of tugs and service boats belonging to Moore
Marine of Port Angeles. She is heading back to her berth
after docking the Pacific Queen. The Annabelle is the
work of Bill Gregory. |
