Columbia Cascade Railway -Larkspur

Larkspur is a busy interchange and the end terminal for the Union Pacific.   From here they run interchange traffic with the Milwaukee at Heritage and the Columbia Terminal Port Railway over on the other side of Vancouver.    This is a busy yard and has a permanent switcher or two that stay busy most of the time.  Larkspur Industrial District is heavy in Grain, produce, and home of the largest warehouse distribution center for the Northland corporation, owners of the countries 6-10 convenience stores.   The UP has a daily transfers to all the other Railroads in the area.

Looking east toward the Larkspur UP yard.  To the left is the Larkspur Grain Co-op, and business is beginning to bustle as harvest is just beginning.

Behind us is the UP engine facilities and a long switching lead used to break up freights.  The yard has caboose tracks at both end of the yard.  In heavy harvest season, the yard runs two switcher and crews to handle the volume, working 24/7.   To the right is the long spur for the Northland Corporation.
