Heritage is the western termination
point for the Milwaukee. It is rumored that Milwaukee may close
down operations in the Pacific Northwest and if this happens, I suspect
BN will gladly jump in and take over this yard and facilities.
They supply motive power at times to the cash strapped Milwaukee.
There is a permanent switcher crew stationed here that during harvest
pulls from the order board with extra crews sent from Vancouver.
Heritage has an industrial district that gets worked daily and a lot
more often during the grain harvest.
Looking East at the
end of the Heritage yard. From the highway bridge you can look
over the top of the Milwaukee engine house and facilities.
To the left is a part of the Heritage industrial area. True
to form, a BN SW sets in the yard.
Today several lash ups
of motive power for Milwaukee are setting idle waiting for the east
bound.
From the overpass
looking over the top of Morningstar Foods, you can see the East end of
the yard. To the right is Blackstone tools, who make a pretty good
line of wood working tools.
