Truckee
industry greatly revived after the 49er gold rush (1949) and the
opening of the new Mother Lode mine, right adjacent to the original
Mother Lode. A daily turn from the ore crusher at Carson City
services the Mother Lode and the Grizzly Flats mine, with a 20 car
train. The town of Truckee contains 9 industries with 25 spots, the
largest of which is the J.K. Rich complex, serviced by three tracks.
Typical daily mixed freight trains to Truckee, which may originate
in Black Water Junction or Sparks, or both, will have 8 setouts and
8 pickups, with a caboose.
During 4 interchange operation, the
town industries are the responsibility of the LS&I, which operates a
turn from Black Water Junction to
Truckee and Lodestone. A separate
train from Carson City services the mines.
