The Black Water Junction (BWJ) yard
and the adjoining town of
Kirksville are usually the busiest
areas in a typical operating session, so the highest paid workers
(the best of the best) are often assigned here. All through trains
stop here, as well as locals to and from Lodestone and Truckee. A
total of 10 industries reside here, with a total of 24 spots. The
yard contains additional spots for 30 cars, and the nearby
Hogscald Interchange holds 20 cars.
During 4 interchange operation, this
area is the responsibility of the Lodestone, Sierra, and Incline
Village Railroad (LS&I). One employee switches Black Water and
Kirksville, while another makes a run up to Truckee and Lodestone to
service those industries.
